The first two things I want you to do is:

  1. Get really familiar with Fiverr and understand exactly how it works.
  2. Do a self-assessment on yourself.

Understanding Fiverr

You must know how Fiverr works inside-out before you go any further.

I’ve personally used Fiverr dozens of times over the years; paying service providers to help me with different aspects of my online businesses, so I know how essential the work of the service providers is – but Fiverr might not be for you.

You’ll need to create a free account on Fiverr so you’ll not have any restricted viewing.

Here’s a quick run down how how Fiverr works:

Sellers: Buyers:
Freelance Service Providers Small Businesses, Solopreneurs etc.

The main thing to note is that Fiverr acts as an intermediary, facilitating all transactions made and providing a platform for freelancers and clients to connect and collaborate on various projects.

Because of this intermediary and facilitation of all transactions, this gives both the sellers and buyers peace of mind.

The sellers are happy because they know they will get paid in full once they’ve delivered their project.

The buyers are happy because they know they will get their project done to their specifications.

1. Registration:

  • Users need to create an account on the Fiverr platform.
  • Both buyers and sellers  can register.

2. Profile Creation:

  • Sellers create profiles showcasing their skills, expertise, and past work.
  • Buyers may also create profiles to manage their orders and interact with sellers.

3. Gigs Creation:

  • Sellers list their services as “gigs,” specifying what they offer, the price, and any additional details.
  • Gigs can include various categories such as writing, graphic design, programming, etc.

4. Search and Discovery:

  • Buyers search for services by browsing categories or using keywords.
  • Fiverr’s algorithm may also recommend relevant gigs based on user preferences and search history.

5. Order Placement:

  • Buyers select a gig and place an order by specifying their requirements.
  • They may also communicate with the seller to discuss details before placing an order.

6. Payment:

  • Buyers pay for the services through Fiverr’s secure payment system.
  • Fiverr holds the payment until the order is completed and approved by the buyer.

7. Fulfillment:

  • Sellers work on the project and deliver the completed work within the agreed-upon time frame.
  • Sellers may provide drafts or previews during the process for buyer feedback.

8. Communication:

  • Both buyers and sellers can communicate through Fiverr’s messaging system to discuss project details.
  • Clear communication is crucial for successful collaboration.

9. Delivery:

  • Sellers submit the completed work to the buyer through the Fiverr platform.
  • Buyers can review the delivered work and request revisions if needed.

10. Rating and Reviews:

  • After completion, buyers can leave a rating and review based on their experience.
  • Ratings and reviews contribute to the seller’s overall profile reputation.

11. Payment Release:

  • Once the buyer is satisfied, Fiverr releases the payment to the seller, minus its service fee.
  • Sellers can withdraw their earnings through various payment methods.

12. Dispute Resolution:

  • Fiverr provides a resolution center to handle disputes between buyers and sellers.
  • Support staff may intervene to resolve issues and ensure a fair outcome.

Your Self-Assessment

Because you’re a beginner on Fiverr, and you feel as if you don’t have any skills or experience to offer as a seller (freelance service provider), then I strongly suggest that you do a self-assessment on yourself.

In this self-assessment, I want you to get a pen and paper and write down all your life:

  • Strengths
  • Experiences
  • Skills
  • Hobbies
  • Interests
  • Talents

So getting back to your self-assessment…

  • What have you done / are doing as a career?
  • What previous jobs have you done?
  • What have you helped other people do?
  • What do you do for a hobby?
  • What interests you?
  • Do you have a talent for something?

I know that many people think that they don’t have anything to offer, but they actually do.

You don’t have to have certified skills; as there are still various services which you can offer on Fiverr based on your interests, talents, or hobbies.

Here are some ideas:

1. Social Media Assistance: Offer to manage or grow social media accounts for individuals or businesses. This could include creating posts, scheduling content, or engaging with followers.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY ON FIVERR WITHOUT SKILLS

Example #1: Social Media Management

You might love social media, you might be an expert in Instagram or Pinterest* but without even realizing it.

Some small business owners or solopreneurs will have absolutely no clue how to use Instagram or Pinterest for their business – but you do!

You use Instagram or Pinterest (or any other social media platform) on a daily basis and so you know how it works inside-out.

*Pinterest is really an image search engine, but there are dozens of bloggers and other small business owners out there who would love to hire someone to do their Pinterest marketing for them ie. create and schedule pins.

So there’s one service you could offer as a social media manager.

Here are some sellers offering social media packages:

Example #2: Virtual Assistance > Email Customer Support

Can you use email and have a good grasp of the English language?

Then why not offer your services as an email customer support operative?

I used to be an email customer support virtual assistant, and basically you would use the buyer’s email software platform.

You will likely get some brief training on how to use their chosen email platform.

Here are some sellers offering email customer support packages:

Example #3: Proofreading

There are many, many buyers whose English is not their first language, and they’re in need of help with their written English content pieces.

In fact, there are also many people where English is their first language, but they still require a proofreader to go over their written work because it is important to them to get it grammatically correct.

You definitely do not need a Degree in English or Proofreading to become an online proofreader. All you need is a good grasp of the English language, spelling and grammar.

Proofreading and editing could be for:

  • Blog posts
  • Scripts
  • White papers
  • Professional papers
  • Manuscripts
  • Short stories
  • Books, etc.

Services To Offer If Your First Language is NOT English

I realize that for a lot of people reading this article; English is not your first language. So you’re probably thinking, “Well my English is not good enough for email customer support or proofreading, so what am I supposed to offer as a service?”

And if this is the case, then don’t worry as there are still plenty of other services you can offer.

As I’ve mentioned above, I’ve used Fiverr quite extensively over the years and I’ve dealt with many sellers whose English was not their first language, and this was never a problem or hindered the service which they were providing.

So here are some services you can offer without the need to have perfect English:

1. Translation Services: You could offer translation services for various languages. You could translate documents, articles, or websites from your native language to English or vice versa.

2. eCommerce Support: Here you would help ecommerce shop owners by uploading product images, writing basic product descriptions and helping them with any of the ‘back-end’ tasks of running an ecommerce store.

Check out my post on 47 Home Business Ideas for Women to give you more business idea options.

3. Data Entry: Data entry is pretty basic and straightforward. So you could offer services related to organizing and inputting data into spreadsheets or databases. As long as you understand the data and instructions, language barriers might be minimal in this field.

4. Graphic Design: You could do basic graphic design on platforms such as Canva and offer services such as logo design, social media graphics, or illustrations.

5. SEO (Search Engine Optimization): You can easily learn SEO and offer services to optimize websites for search engines. You can provide keyword research, on-page optimization, and backlink building, regardless of your first language.

6. Video Editing: Video editors may offer services like cutting, editing, and enhancing videos. Again, this can easily be learned and then offer as a service.

Of course, there are dozens more services to offer, so make sure you look on the Fiverr platform and delve into each category to see if you can do any of the services listed there.

Learn New Skills

If you’re serious about becoming a professional freelance service-provider, then why not take a course on the skills which you would like to offer?

Many of the services provided on Fiverr can easily be learnt and then transferred into a professional service for you to offer and make money from.

Skills which can easily be learnt by taking inexpensive online courses:

So you might have the basics of some skills and you just need to polish up on them, or you could go ‘all-in’ and learn a totally new, and in-demand skill to offer.

Finding Your Niche: Choosing Profitable Fiverr Gigs

I hope you feel encouraged (and a little excited) that you can make money on Fiverr without skills or experience – although I’ve just debunked that myth and shown that you do have skills and experience in some things, you just didn’t realize it!

And if you really don’t have any skills to offer which excite you, then you can easily learn some new skills by enrolling on a course and quickly become an expert in your chosen field.

So now that you know how the platform works and you’ve written down your self-assessment, now is the time to choose which Fiverr gigs you’re going to offer as a seller.

On Fiverr, buyers will search by categories. Then within each category it has its own subcategories.

So by exploring services by categories first, you can find your niche and identify the gig ideas that suit your skills and interests.

Use the Fiverr search bar to find gigs related to your skills and explore the gig descriptions and reviews to get a better understanding of the market demand.

Gig Category Description
Graphics & Design Logos, Branding, Packaging Design, and more.
Digital Marketing Social Media Marketing, SEO, Email Marketing, and more.
Writing & Translation Copywriting, Content Writing, Translation, and more.
Video & Animation Explainer Videos, Animations, Video Editing, and more.
Music & Audio Music Composition, Sound Effects, Voice-Overs etc.
Business Virtual Assistants, eCommer Mgt, Financial Mgt etc.

You should also research your competitors and see what kind of gigs are popular in your category. This can give you an idea of what buyers are looking for and how you can differentiate yourself.

Remember, it’s not about copying someone else’s gig, but about finding a unique angle that appeals to potential clients.

In-Demand Gigs

Whilst you’re on the look-out for services to offer on Fiverr, it’s worth taking note of some of the most in-demand services from buyers.

Although these popular, in-demand services will have more competition among sellers, this will be counteracted simply by the volume of buyers willing to pay for these services.

Here are some gig ideas that are in demand on Fiverr:

Of course, these ideas are just a starting point. You can offer any service you’re skilled at, as long as there’s a market for it.

Once you’ve chosen your gig idea, it’s time to create a package that appeals to buyers. Use engaging language in your gig title and description, and showcase your skills and experience through high-quality images and videos. Keep in mind the importance of pricing your services competitively and offering extras that provide value.

It’s worth noting that finding your niche takes time and effort, but it’s worth it in the long run.

With the right gig idea and strategy, you can achieve massive success on Fiverr as a freelancer.

Setting Up Your Fiverr Profile as a Complete Beginner

Once you’ve decided on the service(s) you want to offer, the next step is to create a sellers account and set up your profile.

It’s worth remembering that when it comes to making a lasting impression on Fiverr, your profile is everything. It’s the first thing potential buyers see, and it can often be the deciding factor in whether or not a buyer hires you.

Click this link to be taken to the Sellers sign-up page.

Now, to be perfectly honest, this is the most difficult part because you don’t have any past or previous clients to make your profile look busy and successful.

Just remember that at this stage, everybody starts at this position. Everybody.

So here are some tips to help you set up your Fiverr profile as a complete beginner:

Craft Enticing Gig Packages

Use Keywords: Before you write any part of your profile, make a list of keywords which relate to your services. Fiverr is a search engine and so it’s imperative that you put your keywords in your profile description so that you have a good chance of showing up when a buyer types in what they’re looking for – with keywords.

Introductory Offers: As a beginner on Fiverr with no experience, the best thing you can do is offer your services at a deeply discounted price.

This would be for a short period, or until you get a few good 4/5 star reviews.

When you first start out, it’s extremely difficult to get chosen for gigs over your competitors who are already established and have dozens of good reviews. So to stand out from your competitors, offer a 50% introductory offer discount until you get your first few clients under your belt.

Attractive Extras: Lots of Fiverr sellers already provide extras such as xx amount of free revisions and a 24 hour delivery option for the project.

These extras are great incentives for buyers, so you should also seriously consider offering these too.

Use High Quality Images: Visuals always attract attention, so you definitely want to use high quality images in your profile description. It depends on what service you’re offering, but at least try and display customer testimonials as images if your service isn’t very visual.

Be Honest in Description: Be honest in your description and say that you are a new Fiverr seller and you’re offering a 50% discount to reflect this. Then after this, your profile description should be concise, engaging, and showcase your unique skills and talents. Don’t forget to use keywords related to your services and ensure your tone aligns with your target audience.

Ask for Reviews: Asking for reviews and testimonials is actually automatically built into the Fiverr system. Once a project has been completed, Fiverr automatically asks the buyer to click on the starts and leave a review.

Fiverr also automatically sends emails out to they buyers remind them to leave a review.

This is really important because positive reviews from satisfied clients can go a long way in establishing your credibility on Fiverr. So make sure you do a fantastic job which will encourage your clients to leave positive feedback.

If you do get any negative reviews, take a deep breath and respond to them in a professional and constructive manner.

Remember, these negative reviews are visible online and so you don’t want to be seen throwing tantrums and hurling abuse at your clients. Simply respond in a controlled and professional manner.

Promoting Your Fiverr Gigs and Attract Clients

Having an SEO (keywords based) profile description is sometimes enough, but when you’re just getting started, you should try other ways of promoting your Fiverr freelance business in order to get it out to a larger audience.

Here are some Fiverr success strategies to help you promote your gigs:
